Core Notes from This Week: We learned everything directly or indirectly and anything can be learned or unlearned including positivity and negativity.
Verse 3:
Ishvararpitam Nechayakritam
Chita shodakam muktisadakam
Ishvara arpitam – dedication to God aka controller. Dedication requires “bigness” dedication facilitates identification aka love (synonyms)
Intention = growth. Do what you value!
Q) What are you dedicated to? What do you love?
Q) Who do you love the most?
A) Yourself, you love yourself the most and you are most dedicated to yourself
- love more and more and start to love the biggest (Bhrama) so you can love Bhagwan not an external figure but by loving everyone and everything
Svachanda: can not be indulgent, I shouldn’t do what I want to do
Duragraha: insistence
- We must let go of duragraha // insistence (the worst vice to have)
- We have desires, but it is the insistence that the results of these desires manifest in the exact way that we want to that makes us impatient
Last desire we’ll have tonight: I want to sleep
Last desire we’ll have in our journey: I want to be free // I want to attain moksha. As long as we have a desire for freedom implies that we are not free. Every desire implies a feeling of smallness, since we want to be big.
Chita Shodakam – purify mind
antaha karana = software or mind = chita and purify = shodakam
Q) How to purify my mind? A) get rid of likes/dislikes (raga/dvesha – expression of vasanas (personality/blueprint))
Q) How to get rid of likes/dislikes? A) By engaging in our responsibility
Don’t work for a check, and ideally work in a service-related profession
50 hours of our week should be for health (exercise, sleep, etc.)
50 hours to our home (friends, fam)
34 hours to work
34 hours to community
Mukti Sadakam – seekers on the path to peace
- Sadhya: destination // freedom
- Sadhana: path (path to peace)
- Sadhaka: seeker (use the path to peace)
Mukti feels like being light. The lighter that we feel, the closer that we are to god, ishwara.
Overall summary of verse 3: Letting go of selfishness and dedicating yourself to God will purify your mind and lead you on the path to peace.
- Purify the software by purging themselves of all vices (anger, laziness, etc.)
- There is a controller to our actions and our results
- The lighter we feel the closer we are to God
Once you appreciate that, you are more light hearted, more accepting less expecting
