Class 7 – Oct 22 2025

Notes by Sita B

RECAP:

Last week’s raw was to make a Diya and think of a word that reminds you of Bhagvan.

We are like the diya. The vessel is like the body, the wick is like the mind which is always reaching up to be better, the oil is like faith and the flame is like our goodness. We discussed how Diwali was the celebration of lights and that Deepa means flame and Aavali means row. So, Diwali means a row of lights.

Last week’s story was about Sita and Rama coming back to their home. Everyone lit lamps to show them the way. However, we realized that Rama and Sita didn’t need our Diya to see their way. The Diya was to help us find OUR way!

All the Sanskrit words that we’ve learned so far:

Aasreya: to take refuge

Prarthana:  your effort is a prayer

Smarati: to remember Bhagvan with your head and heart

Nayana: (last week) to see with your heart

ACTIVITY: Then we did an…exciting activity. 70 Ganesha squats where we crossed our legs and arms and did squats. Phew!!!

STORY:

There was a story about baby Krishna coming. Everyone was super happy about it! Nanda, Yashoda’s husband, told everyone to celebrate in a pure way: by cleaning their homes, feeding their cows, and sharing yummy sweets and gifts. No one knew that Krishna was Bhagvan, but his presence caused happiness.

LEARNING:

We learned about the Sanskrit word Utsava, the joy that makes us better and then spreads! (like how everyone’s joy spreads in the story.)

Nanda came out, and saw that everyone had energy. He realized it needed direction. He told everyone to clean their home and body because a clean space helps you get a clean mind. And to give things to others who need it!

RAW:

Do a kind action that lifts others up, but do it secretly

DYNAMIC:

An awesome show and tell! We had to show an object that makes us feel good. Some highlights include: running shoes, swimming goggles, paint brushes, cool rocks, and fav stuffies!

We ended with a wind down with Krishna!
